History

September 1994:  Museum Society Formed

 

April 1995:  Town of Coaldale purchased the old Mennonite Brethren Church for a museum site

 

November 1995:  First fund-raising event held

 

1996:  Clean-up and restoration begun

 

May 1999:  Museum was declared an Alberta Historical Resource Site

 

May 2001:  Official Opening

 

October 2002:  Gift Shop opened

 

2004:  Blacksmith shop, restoration shop, and the north gallery opened

 

2008: Art gallery, housed in the north gallery, opened. A baby grand piano was purchased. Inaugural University of Lethbridge concert series

 

2009: A large display of aboriginal artifacts completed

 

Membership

Membership is $10.00 per year.

 

Support the Museum

  • Visit the Museum soon.  It's always a rewarding experience.

  • Share your enthusiasm with others.

  • Show your appreciation for the work accomplished.

  • Attend the annual general meeting in January.

  • The board of directors meets monthly.

  • Become a $100 supporter and have your name displayed with other supporters on a special board (tax deductible receipts)

  • Make a donation of:

    • money (tax deductible receipts)

    • Canadian Tire money

    • items for display

    • supplies to be used in the daily operation of the Museum

  • Become a volunteer

  • Plan to host an event or gathering at the Museum.

  • Purchase a $300 plaque (in appreciation of, in memory of, in honour of) the person or occasion of your choice (tax deductible receipts)

  • Advertise by corporate sponsorship.

  • Leave a financial legacy to the Museum in your will.

  • Endowment Fund - planned giving for estate preservation.

A variety of opportunities are available to volunteers.  Those interested in volunteering any amount of time to the Museum are invited to call 403-345-3755 and leave a message. Your call will be returned.  Your generous offer of time would be most appreciated.
